"Space Oddity" is a masterpiece of British musician David Bowie. Edited as a single in 1969, tells the space launch of Major Tom. In the Odyssey astronaut Bowie sings amazing feeling of desolation and float in space in a tiny tin box off from all communication with the earth. Supposedly released to coincide with the moon landing of Apollo 11, appears on the album Space Oddity. The song was used by the BBC in its coverage of alunizaje.1
In 1973 it was re-released by RCA Records in the U.S., reaching # 15 in the Billboard Hot 100.2 In November 1975, reached number one in the UK Singles Chart.
